Government Rejects AI Generated Video Claim About India’s UN Ambassador
The government has dismissed a video circulating online that falsely attributes a statement to India’s Permanent Representative to the United Nations, Parvathaneni Harish. The video claims that Harish made remarks during a United Nations Security Council meeting on the situation in Afghanistan concerning Indian shipments to Israel.
According to the claim, Amnesty International had examined 2,596 Indian shipments to Israel since October 2023. However, the claim has been identified as false and the video has been described as AI generated.
The government has clarified that Ambassador Harish did not make the statement shown in the circulated video. The clarification was issued after the misleading content began spreading through social media.
The fact check also highlights that the video should not be treated as an authentic recording of remarks made by India’s UN representative. The authorities have urged people to rely on verified information and official sources when assessing such content.
