South Korean memory chip manufacturer SK Hynix is discussing a possible arrangement with Intel that could support memory chip production in the United States.

The discussions include a proposal that could involve using part of Intel’s planned facility in Ohio. Another possibility under consideration involves cooperation between the companies and major cloud service providers. The talks are still in an early stage and no final agreement has been reached.

The discussions come at a time when demand for memory chips is increasing, partly because of the rapid expansion of artificial intelligence systems and data centre infrastructure. Additional production capacity has become an important focus as companies invest heavily in technologies supporting AI workloads.
