ASML is strengthening its position at the centre of the global semiconductor industry as chipmakers increasingly turn to its latest High Numerical Aperture technology to support the next generation of advanced processors.
The Dutch chip equipment company is seeing strong demand for its advanced lithography machines as semiconductor manufacturers work to produce smaller and more powerful chips. Its existing Extreme Ultraviolet machines, which cost around $200 million each, are almost fully booked through 2027.
At the same time, customers are moving toward ASML's newer High Numerical Aperture machines, which are priced at around $400 million. The technology can print chip features about 40 percent smaller than those produced using standard EUV equipment.
Major semiconductor companies including TSMC, Samsung, SK Hynix and Intel have committed to using High NA technology in their manufacturing plans. Samsung and SK Hynix are expected to begin using the technology from 2028, while Intel has already processed more than one million wafers using the equipment.
ASML held about 94 percent of the global lithography market in 2025 and remains the only major commercial supplier of EUV lithography systems. The continued growth of artificial intelligence is also increasing demand for advanced chips, supporting the need for more sophisticated manufacturing technology.
The company is expanding its operations, including a new facility in Eindhoven, as the semiconductor industry prepares for another stage of chip miniaturisation.
