Ganesh Chaturthi is being celebrated across Maharashtra with great devotion and enthusiasm. The ten day festival will conclude on September 25 with Anant Chaturdashi. The Maharashtra government has also recognised Ganeshotsav as the state festival.

The festive atmosphere has spread across the state as families and neighbourhoods welcome Ganpati Bappa with devotional songs, aarti and chants of “Ganpati Bappa Morya.” Homes and public pandals have been decorated beautifully for the celebrations, while devotees are offering prayers and seeking the blessings of Lord Ganesha, who is worshipped as the remover of obstacles and the deity associated with wisdom and prosperity.

In Mumbai, various Ganesh mandals are arranging cultural and social programmes as part of the celebrations. These activities are adding to the festive atmosphere across the city and bringing communities together during the festival.

Union Minister Amit Shah is scheduled to visit the famous Lalbaugcha Raja today. Authorities have also strengthened security arrangements in view of the large number of devotees expected to gather at major celebration venues.

The railways and BEST have made special arrangements to manage the expected increase in passenger demand during the festival. The additional arrangements are aimed at helping devotees and visitors travel more smoothly as celebrations continue across Maharashtra.
